SARAH // CHANTILLY LACE

Jacket & Blouse & Purse vintage // Slip forever 21 // Shoes Steve Madden

Vintage wins today. I woke up feeling extra girly and decided to layer up on these little white embroidered pieces I have lying around my closet. Sometimes putting an outfit together has nothing to do with what works, instead I just choose pieces based on my personality that morning and then layer them up. I spent the afternoon drinking tea in the Japanese Garden at Golden Gate Park so you could say I fit in quite nicely.
I'm in a thrifting phase at the moment and I find myself being severely uninspired by all the brand name stuff out there today. My workout routine for 2016 includes diving deep into five dollar bins and doing laps around racks and racks of one-ofs. Shopping has never felt so rewarding.

SARAHxAUTHENTICITY.REQUIRED

Aritzia jacket // vintage bag & top // Topshop jeans // Muse shoes

Lately I have been finding solace in outfits that I think represent ME. It's easy to get wrapped up in normcore trends and I often find myself guilty of emulating that Minimalist Instagram Girl style (You know who I'm talking about.. the one that wears a blanket scarf and Nike Frees in ALL her photos?). Sometimes you just need something to pull you out of that fashion rut; A new accessory, a different hair style or maybe its a mustard-yellow paisley shirt that you found in the bottom of a five dollar bin at your local thrift shop. Fashion is all about individuality, but its okay to hand the wheel off to something new if all you're doing is driving in circles. Don't be afraid to let that your crazy grandmother('s shirt from the 70's) take you for a spin; It could lead you down a path you never would have considered on your own. "Personal" style may imply sticking to your own, but that doesn't mean you should confine yourself within the walls of your comfort zone. How can you develop a personality if you're too afraid to swap out your vans for a pair of heels every once and a while?

Special thanks to Josh Egal. Collaborating with him was not only fun, but he completely brought this look to life and it was such a gift to have worked with him!

SARAH // HOTEL CALIFORNIA

vintage shirt & cardigan & shorts & sunnies // urban outfitters jewels & hat & purse // topshop boots

Looking through these photos brings me back to one of my favourite days in the city. The morning was spent brunching at Dotties, one of SFs best/oldest breakfast bars. Hannah got to know the cities crazies as a few of them tried to to make our date into a trio. From there we took a trip back in time and wandered the streets of the Haight-Ashbury. This is where the best vintage shops live which makes it a fitting setting for this shoot where all but my accessories are vintage. I'm always incorporating hints of color like you see here, but my New Years resolution is going to be no more black! We'll see how long that lasts...

SARAH // LOUDER THAN WORDS

American Apparel jeans // Brandy Melville top // Zara jacket // Marc Jacobs purse // Aritzia beanie

Yet again another lame attempt at adding colour. This day was Hannah's last in the city and we spent it being the ultimate tourists and walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. Despite the beautiful sunshine this was probably one of the windiest days I have experienced in the city. We laughed our asses off with our hair blowing everywhere while we tried not to lose our hats. Unfortunately with SFs moody weather you are never really prepared for what's to come, it's always a "cross your fingers and go" type of thing. I'm wearing a more casual outfit for wandering the city but I've used different textures to keep it interesting. I've recently been reminded of my love for velvet and continue to look for new ways to style old pieces like the ones in this post. While living the broke student life I'm constantly finding inspiration in hidden gems that have been tucked away in the corners of my closet.

SARAH | CHERRY BOMB

Aritzia  tee | Urban Outfitters blouse and bag | Levi's shorts | thrifted sunnies

I was sporting this look on a day that Hannah and I spent roaming Hayes Valley. The different colours and patterns in this look come together and give off a fun vibe that paired nicely with our afternoon of brunching and window shopping. This blouse is something I recently got from urban and I would highly recommend it for  anyone. It's great for layering so I find myself wearing it constantly, especially as the summer months come around. This purse is something I've had for a while but never worn. I was ready to give it up but Hannah reminded me how great it is in her last post and I've really fallen back in love with it's cool colour.

SARAH | MIXED MEDIA

vintage (borrowed) jacket | Pour la Victoire (borrowed) bag | vintage (borrowed) belt | Brandy Melville top | Top Shop jeans, boots and hat.

It has been too long since I've gotten to play around with Hannah's wardrobe but the day has finally come. Here I'm wearing a very busy coat so I played it down with some basics. I also contrasted its oversized fit by wearing tighter layering pieces. I am so happy to have Hannah here with me in SF for a couple of days and I cant wait to share some more looks with you as our vacation continues!

SARAHxPRSPCTV | FREE PEOPLE

Free People Dress (similar here) | Top Shop Jacket and hat | Steve Madden Boots | Zaleska Necklace (borrowed)

Collaborating with the lovely Pierce is always a pleasure! Here I am wearing my absolute favourite Free People dress. The colour scheme and fit of this piece is why I love it so much. The triangle cut out in the neckline gives the opportunity to feature necklaces in a different way. As you can see, I went with a simple black hat and boots but this dress could be worn with jeans and so many other different ways.

SARAHxPRSPCTV | THE DRESS FORM

H&M (borrowed) shirt | Oak and Fort slip | Vintage (borrowed) clutch | Sam Edelman (borrowed) shoes

Working with Pierce was such a fun experience, he is really able to capture such amazing photos. For this post I am wearing an all white outfit with black and red accents. This Jersey like t-shirt from H&M is a great piece for casual days or for more dressier days as shown here. I paired it with my white slip from Noul to go for more of a sleek vibe! These shoes and this clutch are straight from Hannah's closet and really add to the edgy, yet dressy, look I was going for! Hannah bought this interesting purse at a vintage store in Regina called The Dress Form. They have very cool, retro pieces that appeal to a variety of styles. I recommend checking them out online here. We have recently worked with Pierce over Christmas break so stay tuned for more to come and Happy New Year everyone!

HANNAH & SARAH | NYE

Free People romper | Aldo boots | American Apparel/ Urban Outfitters necklaces

Aritzia skirt | Garage shirt | Zara shoes

These are our outfits of choice for our New Years Eve spent at a casual house party last night. We had a fun time celebrating a great year and the short time we have together before Sarah flys back to California. 2014 held a lot of milestones for the both of us, from dance championships and graduation to the beginning of our post secondary lives, and of course the birth of The Borrowers. So cheers to all the good times of 2014 and all that 2015 will bring!

Cheers,
Hannah

SARAH | RAG & BONE

Rag and Bone joggers | Aritzia jacket | Vintage shirt | Steve Madden boots

While my trip home was much needed I can honestly say I do not miss the cold. Here I am wearing some newer pieces that I grabbed just before I left to San Francisco in the fall. I would suggest if wanting to wear an outfit like the one here I would keep it in the fall months. This light black demin jacket was a sale find at Aritzia from their last years collection. It's one of my slimmer fitting jackets and I'm finding it to be a really wearable piece especially with longer shirts and dresses. Joggers are a must for all people who value comfort. Joggers are a great pair of pants that you can dress up or down depending on how are feeling!

SARAHxPRSPCTV | TAKE ME TO CHURCH

Zara top | Aritzia skort | Quicksilver (borrowed) flannel | Urban Outfitters hat | Vintage rosary

After much anticipation, here is the first post from our collab with PRSPCTV photography! We recently spent a night out with our talented friend Pierce roaming the streets of Vancouver and collabing on some fun looks. This post features a casual outfit that I put together with my favourite flannel and a hand-me-down rosary necklace. Keep an eye out for my next post titled, THEBORROWERSxPRSPCTV which will display an outfit much different then the one I have here. Also, make sure you check out his website, www.prspctvbypierce.com, where he features many other local artists aswell.
