SARAH // CHANTILLY LACE

Jacket & Blouse & Purse vintage // Slip forever 21 // Shoes Steve Madden

Vintage wins today. I woke up feeling extra girly and decided to layer up on these little white embroidered pieces I have lying around my closet. Sometimes putting an outfit together has nothing to do with what works, instead I just choose pieces based on my personality that morning and then layer them up. I spent the afternoon drinking tea in the Japanese Garden at Golden Gate Park so you could say I fit in quite nicely.
I'm in a thrifting phase at the moment and I find myself being severely uninspired by all the brand name stuff out there today. My workout routine for 2016 includes diving deep into five dollar bins and doing laps around racks and racks of one-ofs. Shopping has never felt so rewarding.

HANNAH // DISH & DU/ER

Dish & DU/ER jeans // Topshop top & shoes // H&M moto // Free People hat // vintage bandana // Pour la Victoire bag

We are in the dying stages of winter right now, and in Vancouver that means its raining/overcast every day. My 8 AM classmates may not believe me, but I too go through the struggle every morning of debating whether or not it is appropriate to go to school in a blanket burrito and slippers. Peering out my curtains everymorning to find the same old Vancouver rain is just about enough to have me fishing through the remains of lululemon leggings i set fire to circa 2010 at my parents house.
Luckily I ran into the Dish denim pop up shop here in Vancouver before any workout pants were removed from the trash. The rad team there let me test drive a pair of their Pebble Grey skinnies made with their new N2X material. Dish & DU/ER uses fabric that has comfort and stretch without sacrificing  the look of classic denim. They are also a Vancouver company so their lightweight fabric really was made for our west coat weather. I'm styling my Dish jeans here with a mix of neutrals and my vintage bandana.

Lately I have been finding solace in outfits that I think represent ME. It's easy to get wrapped up in normcore trends and I often find myself guilty of emulating that Minimalist Instagram Girl style (You know who I'm talking about.. the one that wears a blanket scarf and Nike Frees in ALL her photos?). Sometimes you just need something to pull you out of that fashion rut; A new accessory, a different hair style or maybe its a mustard-yellow paisley shirt that you found in the bottom of a five dollar bin at your local thrift shop. Fashion is all about individuality, but its okay to hand the wheel off to something new if all you're doing is driving in circles. Don't be afraid to let that your crazy grandmother('s shirt from the 70's) take you for a spin; It could lead you down a path you never would have considered on your own. "Personal" style may imply sticking to your own, but that doesn't mean you should confine yourself within the walls of your comfort zone. How can you develop a personality if you're too afraid to swap out your vans for a pair of heels every once and a while?

Special thanks to Josh Egal. Collaborating with him was not only fun, but he completely brought this look to life and it was such a gift to have worked with him!

SARAH // HOTEL CALIFORNIA

vintage shirt & cardigan & shorts & sunnies // urban outfitters jewels & hat & purse // topshop boots

Looking through these photos brings me back to one of my favourite days in the city. The morning was spent brunching at Dotties, one of SFs best/oldest breakfast bars. Hannah got to know the cities crazies as a few of them tried to to make our date into a trio. From there we took a trip back in time and wandered the streets of the Haight-Ashbury. This is where the best vintage shops live which makes it a fitting setting for this shoot where all but my accessories are vintage. I'm always incorporating hints of color like you see here, but my New Years resolution is going to be no more black! We'll see how long that lasts...

Its finals season ya'll so I'm going to spare you my rants for today. Instead, I've decided to grace you with this tourist pic of me having the best day ever in San Francisco (if it wasn't obvious by my facial expression).

Cheers,

Hannah

SARAH // RUBY TUESDAY

wearing: zara jacket  | vintage top | | urban outfitters dress, hat & bag

Someone recently asked me, "What is the point of fashion and dressing up everyday?". Now, not everyone would agree on this topic, but I see fashion as the simplest form of self expression because we all get dressed every day and we all have clothes in our closet. Getting "dressed up with no where to go" is like a hobby of mine. After a busy day I'm always finding solace in coming home and playing with the textures and colours in my closet.

Here, I'm layering this girly top with edgy, black accents. The photographer, Fouad Alkhateeb, and assistant photographer, Eric Park, really taught me about life on the other side of the camera. As my second year in SF continues I am beginning to notice how fashion, dance, photography, and many other arts can form a melting pot together and I am sure having fun testing the waters.

SARAH | CHERRY BOMB

Aritzia  tee | Urban Outfitters blouse and bag | Levi's shorts | thrifted sunnies

I was sporting this look on a day that Hannah and I spent roaming Hayes Valley. The different colours and patterns in this look come together and give off a fun vibe that paired nicely with our afternoon of brunching and window shopping. This blouse is something I recently got from urban and I would highly recommend it for  anyone. It's great for layering so I find myself wearing it constantly, especially as the summer months come around. This purse is something I've had for a while but never worn. I was ready to give it up but Hannah reminded me how great it is in her last post and I've really fallen back in love with it's cool colour.

HANNAH | ONE OF A KIND

Vintage tee and jacket | Brandy Melville skirt | Zara blouse | Topshop boots | UO (borrowed) bag

I have long awaited this trip and am happy to have finally landed in San Fran. While Sarah spent the day dancing, I tackled the SF transit system on my own and went thrifting in the mission district. There, I proceeded to exhaust my funds for the whole trip in a matter of hours on clothes and souvenirs (this vintage tee and jacket are evidence of this). Later, Sarah and I ventured into chinatown for dinner and bubble tea, where we took these photos along the way. There is no limit to cool vintage stores and furniture shops in the area and I really fell in love with the character this city has. But I am mostly just happy to be spending time with my best friend again!!!

Cheers,
Hannah

SARAH | MIXED MEDIA

vintage (borrowed) jacket | Pour la Victoire (borrowed) bag | vintage (borrowed) belt | Brandy Melville top | Top Shop jeans, boots and hat.

It has been too long since I've gotten to play around with Hannah's wardrobe but the day has finally come. Here I'm wearing a very busy coat so I played it down with some basics. I also contrasted its oversized fit by wearing tighter layering pieces. I am so happy to have Hannah here with me in SF for a couple of days and I cant wait to share some more looks with you as our vacation continues!

HANNAHxPRSPCTV | GRAPHICS

Vintage shirt | Noul Cardigan | Levi's Shorts | Vintage (borrowed) Sunglasses | Top Shop hat

This is a really casual outfit I shot with Pierce this summer. Lately I've been keeping my eyes peeled for some new hats because, you may have noticed, I wear this one almost EVERYday. Graphic t-shirts like these, however, are not scarce in my closet as you will rarely find me turning down a comfy 5$ tee. These pictures are from the summer, but in Vancouver, if you throw on a pair of tights or swap these shorts for a pair of boyfriend-jeans this simple outfit can follow you through the whole year.

SARAH | RAG & BONE

Rag and Bone joggers | Aritzia jacket | Vintage shirt | Steve Madden boots

While my trip home was much needed I can honestly say I do not miss the cold. Here I am wearing some newer pieces that I grabbed just before I left to San Francisco in the fall. I would suggest if wanting to wear an outfit like the one here I would keep it in the fall months. This light black demin jacket was a sale find at Aritzia from their last years collection. It's one of my slimmer fitting jackets and I'm finding it to be a really wearable piece especially with longer shirts and dresses. Joggers are a must for all people who value comfort. Joggers are a great pair of pants that you can dress up or down depending on how are feeling!
